orthovet offers first class communication with both owners and referring veterinary surgeons alike. If you want to discuss a patient, an unusual finding, or if you simply wish to find out, whether a patient would be a good candidate for referral, please contact Christoph by phone or by e-mail. Please leave a message, as it may not be possible to answer your call directly during an operation. You will be contacted as soon as possible.

If it is decided to seek a referral, a mutually convenient time for consultation is arranged. The consultation, all treatment - including surgical interventions - and follow-up examinations are carried out at the premises of the referring veterinary surgeon. During every consultation the patient is thoroughly assessed. Thereafter, all treatment options are laid out in detail and discussed with the patient's owners and the referring practice. This always allows ample opportunity to raise and answer questions the pet's owner may have. On the day of surgery, orthovet will provide and bring along all specialist equipment required for the intervention. This includes amongst others a full AO/ASIF-kit for plate and screw fixation, a variety of air power tools, any implants required, cement-less Total Hip Joint Replacement kit, a latest technology 3-chip CCD arthroscopy camera and light source, a continuous wave pressure regulated arthroscopy infusion pump, etc.

For every patient a detailed discharge note is prepared for the owner together with a letter for the referring veterinarian. Depending on the problem of the patient, the follow-up examinations may be carried out by the referring veterinary surgeon or by the orthopaedic surgeon. In case there are any questions in the follow-up of the patients including reviewing of follow-up radiographs, orthovet is more than happy to assist and take care of that in any possible way. orthovet applies a high priority to excellent client communication and always replies to requests promptly.
