European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Surgery
Successfully passing the diploma examination of the European Specialist College initially qualifies an individual as a European Veterinary Specialist in that speciality. Thereafter, the specialist status is reviewed and assessed every five years on the basis of clinical and academic activity as well as participation and performance of CPD.

RCVS recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery
The RCVS has established a listing of recognised specialists for different sub-specialties. In order to become eligible as a RCVS recognised Specialist, one must hold an appropriate qualification at the diploma level, have demonstrated adequate experience over several years and be actively available to see referral patients. Fulfilment of these specialist criteria is reviewed every five years.
